Water Clarifier/Water Chiller/Heat Transfer System Pilot Plant Prototype

In collaboration with a Scientist from Russia, a concept was developed where excess process heat from AR3C’s operations could be recovered and utilized as an energy input for chilling, condensing and distillation and combined in a system to clarify or concentrate solutions containing organic elements.

Preliminary designs, engineering evaluations and prototyping were performed that resulted in a commissioned demonstration system that is capable of using heat energy recovered from gasification, electricity generation, material drying and other onsite processes as energy inputs for absorption chilling, condensing and distillation processes. These are combined in a system that can perform one of two selectable processes described as follows:

  1. Intake near-clarified, nutrient-depleted post-algaculture host solution and then apply condensing and distillation processes to produce near-potable water suitable for aquaculture or crop irrigation purposes.
  2. Intake diluted nutrient-rich organic leachate and then apply condensing and distillation and cooling processes to produce marketable concentrated liquid crop and plant fertilizers.

The system is comprised of tanks, pumps, filter units, condensers, heat recovery ducting, chillers and distillation and cooling units, piping, valving, process monitoring and control subsystems.
